SOURCE LOS CAÑOS
In this place is one of the oldest sources of which we have testimonies, hence the depth at which it is found. The chronicles already name it in the repartimientos:
''The council is provided for their own a theneriaquesta next to another that Garci Fernandes Manrique has, bordering the fountain of the Alora gate''
Although Coín has previous archaeological remains found in different areas of its municipal area, it is necessary to wait until the beginning of the 10th century for Castro-Dakwan to begin to be valued as a city, coinciding with its fortification by order of the administration of the Caliphate of Córdoba. The Wall of caliphal origin in its northern part is located in the line parallel to Antequera Street, behind this fountain, a place where it presents a great unevenness used for its fortification.
Continuing towards Puerta de la Villa street, there would be the aforementioned “Puerta de Álora”, which is mentioned in numerous texts since it adjoins several mills, tanneries and fountains, important buildings for the local economy.
Let's not forget that one of the main axes is formed around the water that goes from El Salto del Agua to the mouth of the Río de la Villa, passing through the Albaicín, C/ Mesones, C/ Los Molinos and Puerta de la Villa.
